Episode 4: Centers with Heidi Bolger

Heidi Bolger is a first grade teacher in Lisa’s district who is using centers in an innovative way in her classroom.

In the coffee section, we discuss why, in 1675, King Charles II of England banned coffee shops.

Heidi began using centers as a way to get better at differentiating her instruction. She wanted to help her students learn by doing. She discusses how she got started, and how she added more activities as she became more comfortable. She shares her early difficulties, how she solved her problems, and her planned next steps. She also has some valuable advice for teachers who want to get started using centers with their students.
